A word on colloidal silver, the panacea that has been kept under cover, and your fix for winter’s throat tickles and the runnies

Most may not know this but silver has been used for its medicinal properties for centuries. Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, was the first to use it for its antimicrobial benefits in 400 BC. Today, the nanoparticles of silver, known as “colloidal silver” (or silver hydrosol) are used in medicine and some beauty products for their extraordinary power to kill germs, treat certain skin conditions, and aid in anti-aging.

Colloidal Silver is really just invisible tiny bits of silver dispersed in water (technically more complex than my description, but this’ll do for the sake of this post). When bacteria, fungus and viruses come into contact with silver, they are automatically obliterated. Yes yes. Its antibacterial power makes it also one of the most intelligent options for treating skin issues like acne, cuts, or skin infections. Oddly though, if you research online for information, you will likely find that it gets a bad rap for its internal use. 🤔

I began taking bio-active Silver Hydrosol by the brand Silver Sovereign when my facialist informed me it was a magnificent homeopathic remedy, safe enough even for daily use. I took it with no intention other than to kill off whatever bodily toxins might be meandering about. With 6 dropperfuls in water as well as 3 throat sprays and 2 nasal sprays in each nostril after just the first day, my allergy symptoms vanished. Dallas has been ranked as the second worst city in the U.S. for seasonal allergies, and although I’d been taking NAC and other daily natural antihistamine supplements, nothing helped even a bit. From the very moment I began using colloidal silver, the effect of colloidal silver was IMMEDIATE. I have treated my daughter’s cuts with it, and guess what… It’s miraculous. I’ve also included it in my beauty regimen and well, hoping its long-term effects will be just as fabulous.

It is quite peculiar, though, that over-the-counter drugs containing colloidal silver for internal use were widely available until the FDA banned its use in the 1990s (when Monsanto came to power). Evidently 🤨, there wasn’t enough scientific evidence to support its reputation as a panacea. In 2010, however, the EU food authorities (EFSA) followed suit and succeeded in reintroducing it to the public (only for its use as an antimicrobial mineral solution, not for medicinal and beauty purposes🤔).

A side note: Whole Foods once carried colloidal silver products until its acquisition by Amazon. Again,🤔. Two major supermarkets, however, that do fortunately carry colloidal silver are Sprouts and Natural Grocers.

Two beauty brands that use colloidal silver as principal ingredients are ARgENTUM Apothecary (All products) and YULI (just their elixirs).

Please note: While I personally endorse this, it is crucial that you consult with your naturopath/doctor to determine if it is suitable for your needs.
